Summary
Neurological Disorders: Cases from a Biopsychosocial Perspective explores a wide array of neurological conditions through the lens of the biopsychosocial model, which acknowledges the complex interplay among biological, psychological, and social factors in illness and recovery. This book sheds light on the multifaceted nature of neurological disorders and provides readers with a complete view of patient care that transcends the biomedical approach.

The book is organized into dedicated chapters that examine various conditions such as Alzheimer’s Disease, ALS (Lou Gehrig’s Disease), Huntington’s Disease, Multiple Sclerosis, Cauda Equina Syndrome, Lewy Body Dementia, and Parkinson’s Disease. Each chapter addresses biological factors like genetics and pathology, psychological impacts, and the social/sociocultural aspects that influence each condition and its management. The text includes clinical vignettes that offer readers insight into real-life scenarios and the multifaceted challenges faced by individuals dealing with these neurological disorders. These clinical cases are based upon the professional experiences of both authors. Additionally, each chapter describes the diagnosis in-depth, treatment interventions, and care planning from a holistic standpoint.

Neurological Disorders is an ideal textbook for courses in health psychology, neuropsychology, occupational therapy, and other health-related fields.
