Summary
Introduction to Complementary and Integrative Therapies for Nurses offers an essential resource that bridges the gap between traditional medical knowledge and the growing field of complementary therapies. Tailored specifically for nurses and healthcare professionals, this text serves as a succinct introduction to complementary and integrative care.

The book systematically defines each therapy, providing an overview of actions, uses, evidence-based effects, potential adverse effects, and the role of nurses in guiding patient use. It encompasses nutritional, physical, psychological, and energy therapies, along with practical guidelines for integrating complementary care into practice. The guide includes learning objectives, key terms, discussion points, and experiential activities, stressing the latest evidence-based guidelines to ensure up-to-date information.

Perfect for courses focused on holistic nursing, integrative healthcare, and complementary therapies, Introduction to Complementary and Integrative Therapies for Nurses assists learners in comprehensively understanding and applying complementary practices.

Catherine Stiller began her search on the effect of complementary and integrative therapies when she first served as Director of Complementary Care for Saint Vincent Health System in Erie, Pennsylvania in the late nineties. She is a registered nurse, a therapeutic touch practitioner, and has researched the effect of therapeutic touch on fibromyalgia pain and anxiety, earning her Ph.D. in nursing at the Frances Payne Bolton School of Nursing in Cleveland, Ohio in 2006. Catherine currently serves on the American Holistic Nurses Association Research Committee. She has taught nursing both in person and online for the last 35 years and is a certified nurse educator.
