Summary
Psychology helps us understand how people think, behave, respond, and interact with underlying phenomena. It is the study of human (and animal) behavior and the thoughts and emotions that influence behavior.

Exploring Psychology: Critical Readings on the Essentials of Mind, Body, and Behavior is a survey of the major psychological topics, theories, and approaches to the scientific study of behavior and mental processes.

The interactive ebook format allows students to read the text of each chapter and engage with digital learning activities throughout—including videos, key term matching activities, online flashcards, quizzes, reflection questions, and a discussion forum—all within a single system.

The text provides a broad study of the major topics in psychology, including but not limited to the history of psychology; research methods; careers in psychology; sensation and perception; learning and conditioning; memory; cognition and intelligence; motivation and emotion; human development; social behavior; sexuality and gender; personality; psychological disorders; and the treatment of mental disorders.

The second edition features updated chapter introductions and seven new readings that explore research in psychology, neuroscience, emotion and motivation, personality, consciousness, learning, and positive counseling.

Designed to help students explore and engage with key concepts in the discipline, Exploring Psychology is an exemplary interactive resource for courses in foundational psychology.

Clarence Massie Jr. is a clinician, educator, social researcher, and a professor in the Department of Psychology at Georgia State University Perimeter College, where he teaches courses in general psychology, drugs and behavior, and human development. He also provides clinical counseling and life coaching services at his private practice in southwest Atlanta. Dr. Massie holds a Ph.D. in human services from Capella University and M.S. in psychology and counseling from Walden University.
