The anthology International Environmental Studies matches major ecological issues with prominent approaches and case studies. The text provides a dynamic reading experience, transdisciplinary perspectives, and opportunities for critical thinking.

The book examines six key ecological issues: food systems and agriculture, biodiversity, fresh water resources, energy, waste, and climate change. The text explores these issues using a variety of disciplines and approaches, with a particular focus on the unique economic, political, and social contexts affecting people’s access to natural resources. Case studies from around the world help illustrate the complexity of environmental issues with real-world examples.

International Environmental Studies is an excellent reader for introductory environmental and global studies courses, as well as mid-career professional programs and practitioners seeking an introduction to global environmental issues.

Katlyn S. Morris teaches in the Environmental Studies Program and the Department of Plant and Soil Science at the University of Vermont. Her research and teaching explore the environmental, economic, political, and social aspects of agriculture in Latin America.
    V. Ernesto Méndez is an associate professor of agroecology in the Environmental Studies Program and the Department of Plant and Soil Science at the University of Vermont. Through agroecology and participatory research action, his teaching and scholarly interests address the interactions between agriculture, rural livelihoods, and conservation.
Ingrid L. Nelson is an assistant professor in the Department of Geography and the Environmental Studies Program at the University of Vermont. Her research and teaching focus on feminist political ecology, forest landscapes, land grabs, and environmental activism in Mozambique.
Saleem H. Ali is Director of the Centre for Social Responsibility in Mining (CSRM) and professor of politics and international studies at the University of Queensland, Australia. His research focuses on environmental conflicts in the extractive industries and how ecological cooperation can promote peace in international relations.
