Environmental Technology for Architects: Volume 1: Comfort, Context, and the Sun provides readers with foundational theories, practical examples, and insights into environmental technologies, aimed at integration within the architectural design studio.

The interactive ebook format allows students to read the text of each chapter and engage with digital learning activities—including skill-builder activities, videos, and quizzes—all within a single system.

The interactive ebook covers a range of topics related to environmental technology and its relationship with architecture. Beginning with an overview of how environmental factors have shaped human dwellings and perceptions, it explores thermal properties, heat flow, and climate considerations. The ebook emphasizes understanding the ecology of relationships between physical conditions, three-dimensional spaces, perception, and interpretation, with a focus on creating healthful connections to the natural environment through architectural design. It covers the thermal properties of air, psychrometrics, the sun's influence on climate and weather, thermal comfort, metabolism, and material characteristics that influence building performance.

Environmental Technology for Architects is ideal for courses in environmental technology, architectural design, building science, and sustainability in architecture.
